A Hostmaker Design creation - Affordable Luxury

Affordable luxury - an interiors oxymoron that sounds almost too good to be true. When executed well, it can create a welcoming and calming space. But scrolling your way through Pinterest and looking at the seemingly endless sea of possibilities, it can really make you wonder “how can I really begin to achieve this for my Airbnb? And how can I make it original?” Curating a luxurious interior needn’t be a pricey or arduous process, and there is always scope to make a timeless trend your own - as Hostmaker Design’s most recent project proves.

This Georgian built townhouse was one of our most treasured London spaces this year, housed on a peaceful, leafy street in Islington. Painted white throughout, empty and unfurnished, we couldn’t help but imagine a wildly romantic interior for this rather large 4-storey, 4 bedroom home with a double lounge and terrace. Our host wanted something bespoke, and by blending a luxe theme with fun botanical elements, we were able to create a unique scheme for them at the very affordable price of £22K for all furnishings and decor (and, of course, none of the hassle!).

Taking inspiration from 2017 trends, we embraced dark painted decor, and instantly dramatised the space. Lacing it with a little floral luxury by using modest accessories, prints and soft patterned textiles, we gave some pretty personality to the interiors. To add an extra layer to the design, we used a combination of classic statement furniture pieces, big bold floral wallpaper, and carefully chosen plants and pots to evoke a ‘desert chic’ vibe, providing a unique take on “luxury” for hosts and guests.
